The Overview.

A social issue is a problem that influences many teens, It's a common problem in present-day society. Schools are not doing enough to encourage teens to talk about what is happening around the world.

The Problem.

How do we create awareness without preaching to the teens?

We need to know what type of platform that resonates with the teens the most and what type of media they use to absorb information.

As we know, teenagers are extremely social and are glued to their phones constantly. They don't want to be an outcast so they follow the social norms, adapting to behaviours by being on social media platforms, posting/sharing and following influencers on the daily.

 

Although teenagers have a lack of awareness on current social issues, some do participate in social causes through online channels which enables to them to feel empowered to generate small waves, like sharing posts and signing a petition through social media platforms.

Top Findings on teenagers:

No Patiences

Hate waiting for things to load or having to close pop ups; easily distracted.

Simplicity

Prefer sites with neutral graphics rather than childish ones.

Search

Heavy reliance on search; some difficulty formulating search queries.

Teenagers are able to share memes, participate in contests and challenges through the EyeYah! platform - this will enable them to develop their own content through their own ways.

Content offers
to bring teens back.

The project is still live - currently testing users.

Result.

We integrated core features and used IG and Tik Tok as a feeder to the main platform.
